3d Modelling
In digital fabrication, the 3D model is the starting point — essential and defining. At i{n}stance, we continuously develop and refine precise digital models, using computational design and parametric tools to explore form and ensure fabrication-ready geometry. Modeling is not just a step in the workflow — it’s a space of invention, iteration, and testing. We work with our own ready-to-use prototypes, designed to be flexible and easily customized, but we also welcome external input: sketches, ideas, or unfinished models. We help shape these into coherent, manufacturable objects using digital technologies.
Our Philosophy
The i{n}stance philosophy is dependent on digital research and optimization. At the core of each of our prototypes is a precise digital strategy, pushing the boundaries of computational design and digital fabrication.
Our continuous process of experimenting and bringing perfected models from digital into physical leads to a variety of already-designed prototypes to choose from. Each prototype is generated in an algorithmic manner, using parametric tools. The prototypes are part of various collections, depending on the algorithm used. By using mass-customization strategies, we are able to digitally fabricate in series unique products.
All of our displayed models are ready-to-print.
Algorithmic Collections
Over time, we’ve built a series of digital prototypes that are ready for fabrication. Each model is algorithmically generated and belongs to a family of forms, shaped by specific parameters and design logic. Through mass-customization techniques, we’re able to produce one-of-a-kind pieces within a reproducible framework — unique objects born from shared systems.
All our prototypes are print-ready, but they’re also designed to evolve.
