  • Speed. Render fast, design faster. V-Ray for Rhino lets you spend more time being creative and less time waiting.
  • Quality. V-Ray lets you render the highest quality images possible – right in Rhino.
  • Creative control. Focus on design, with a full set of creative tools for lights, materials and rendering.
  • Power. V-Ray gives you the power to render anything and everything – from quick concepts to your largest and most detailed 3D models.
  • The industry standard. Top designers rely on V-Ray every day to visualize world-class products, buildings and more.

Rendering

Render on CPU or super fast GPU engines that suit best your project requirements. Remove noise and speed up rendering times. Use the interactive rendering to see results right away as you make adjustments to lights, materials or cameras. Render separate elements for easy post processing. Use the V-Ray swarm for simple and scalable distributed renderings.

V-Ray is now available inside Grasshopper and objects and scenes can be rendered without baking them into Rhino. Make animations with light studies, turntables and fly-through. Render in the cloud with one click. Automate render snapshots or multiple files all at once. Use scene intelligence to optimize your rendering time and quality. Use viewport rendering for instant feedback. Render your object masks with crypto matte for more accurate post-processing.

Lighting

Use adaptive lights to speed up render times up to x7. Control light instances all at once in the Asset Editor. Achieve realistic interior lighting with powerful and fast global illumination. Pre-set light types help you render natural or artificial lighting. Use HDR (hyper-dynamic-range) to light your scene. Use the sun and sky for realistic daylight. Use the Lighting Analysis tool to visualize the lux value of any scene.

User Interface

The same familiar UI that brings everything together in the Smart Asset Editor. Create, edit and manage all your lights, materials, textures, V-Ray geometry and render elements in one place. An integrated file manages keeps track of assets like textures, IES files and proxy objects. A powerful colour picker lets you select colour and modify temperature values. The V-Ray frame buffer tracks your rendering history and fine tune colours, exposure directly. Preview materials, lights, textures and render elements in a single viewer that instantly relays feedback on changes. Selection filters speed up your workflow and organize assets. Map multiple materials with the same source texture. Use RhinoScript and Python to program your V-Ray Scene for advanced usage.

Camera

Work with real world cameras, adjusting exposure, white balance and depth of field. Create Virtual Reality content. Take advantage of GPU-accelerated glare, bloom and procedurally generated dust and scratches for added photorealism. Use the Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance camera controls for the easiest point and click rendered shots.

Materials, textures, atmospheric & volumetric effects

Create physical based materials that look exactly like the real thing. Make use of texturing tools with a rich set of procedurals that do not require UP unwrapping. Use your own Rhino materials that are converted to V-Ray shaders. An extensive built in material library of over 1000 drag and drop materials is available. A native support for metallic reflections ensures greater compatibility with other PBR materials from other applications like Substance Designer.

Deliver depth of scenes with 3d fog and light scattering effects. add depth to your images with aerial perspective. Render volumetric materials for light scattering and translucency.

Geometry management

Use proxy objects that are highly detailed and complex like grass, trees and cars for memory efficiency. The V-Ray proxies can be pre-animated also. Control the look of proxies in the Rhino viewport. Select from Whole mesh, bounding box, Point (Origin), Custom preview and the new low poly Proxy preview mode. Add surface detail with displacement for perfect architectural materials like brick and stone. Add more photorealism to your scenes with grass, fabrics and carpet with V-Ray Fur. Quickly render cutaways and cross sections with V-Ray Clipper. Import and render V-Ray scenes from other applications such as 3dsMax, Revit and SketchUp or share complete ready to render V-Ray for Rhino scenes.
