Rhino 8
Rhino3d is one of the most versatile modelling software in the world. It is used by architects, designers, jewellers, engineers, builders and makers, adapting to each one’s needs. Whether you are creating, editing, analysing, documenting, rendering or animating 3d models Rhino3d will bring unparalleled performance at a very competitive pricing.
While handling freeform surfaces in NURBS format and in subdivision geometry (SubD), Rhino3d can manage also lines, curves, point clouds and mesh geometry, making it one of the most sought-after software for interoperability today.
Used by architecture studios like Zaha Hadid Architects, MAD Architects, BIG, 3XN, UN Studio all around the worlds, facilitates free form modelling of smooth, organic-like surfaces and streamlines their construction.
Rhino can create, edit, analyse, document, render, animate, and translate NURBS* curves, surfaces, solids and subdivision geometry (SubD), point clouds, and polygon meshes. There are no limits on complexity, degree, or size beyond those of your hardware.
Special features include:
- Uninhibited free-form 3D modelling tools like those found only in products costing 20 to 50 times more. Model any shape you can imagine.
- Accuracy needed to design, prototype, engineer, analyze, and manufacture anything from an airplane to jewellery.
- Compatibility with all your other design, drafting, CAM, engineering, analysis, rendering, animation, and illustration software.
- Read and repair meshes and extremely challenging IGES
- Accessible. So easy to learn and use that you can focus on design and visualization without being distracted by the software.
- Fast, even on an ordinary laptop computer. No special hardware is needed.
- Development platform for hundreds of specialty 3D products.
- Affordable. Ordinary hardware. Short learning curve. Affordable purchase price. No maintenance fees.
- Rhino for Mac: The world’s most versatile 3D modeler, available on macOS.
New in Rhino 8
Rhino 8 brings new modeling tools like ShrinkWrap, a huge speed boost for Mac users, SubD Creases, PushPull workflows, better drafting tools, a more customizable User Interface, a faster Render engine, new Grasshopper data types, and much more.
ShrinkWrap: Turn Garbage To Gold
ShrinkWrap creates a watertight mesh around open or closed meshes, NURBS geometry, SubD, and point clouds: ideal for creating meshes for 3D printing.
ShrinkWrap is ideal for creating:
- Meshes for 3D printing.
- A solid union mesh from multiple objects.
- A solid mesh from 3D scan data fragments.
- Meshes without internal self-intersections.
- Offset meshes for shelling.
- Meshes from point clouds when reverse engineering.
- Valid closed meshes from broken or often hard-to-repair geometry.
Built for Mac
Rhino now looks and feels the same nomatter you are on Mac or on Windows. Rhino 8’s user interface is substantially similar between platforms (except for the Command Prompt). Tools are in the same place; icons look the same. You can share Window Layouts with others – even between Windows and Mac.
Rhino for Mac is faster than ever, running natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and using the Apple Metal display technology. We’ve also brought the User-Interface on Mac closer to its Windows sibling.
Rhino for Mac is now faster than ever on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Powered by Metal, our new display pipeline delivers hardware-accelerated graphics for high frame rates and large resolutions.
Even in complex, detailed models—especially those with lots of lines, curves, hatches, and annotations—you can now pan, zoom, and orbit fluidly without dropping frames. Depending on your model, speed increases can be 24 times or more.
The updated Cycles Render Engine is also built on Metal, speeding up the Raytraced display mode and the Rhino Render engine.
Metal is supported in all display modes.
SubD Creases
SubD Creases create a feature between a smooth and a sharp edge, without adding complexity to the SubD control net, great for making fillet-like features.
Accurate, organic modeling just got easier. Push and pull to explore complex, free-form shapes in realtime.
SubD objects are highly accurate and can be converted directly to manufacturable solids. You can also convert scan or mesh data into SubD objects, then optionally to NURBS.
Modeling: Simplified
Rhino 8 unlocks new modeling workflows — like PushPull — and adds intuitive new features to the Gumball, Automatic CPlanes, Inset and more
Rhino 8 adds new features to make modeling more playful and accessible. Combining these tools reduces friction for common solid creation/editing tasks. This allows you to stay in single Perspective view while modeling.
PushPull simplifies and speeds up Solid Modeling by using curves to add or remove volumes from existing geometry.
Quickly Move, Rotate, Scale, Copy, Cut, and Extrude geometry without typing commands or clicking a toolbar button. This makes the Gumball a versatile direct modeling tool for concept modeling interior and exterior architectural forms, certain furniture styles, SciFi models, and working with SubD objects.
Inset offsets edges inward on a mesh, SubD, or polysurface face: an easy way to make sub-faces that can be PushPulled to define a concept in a few clicks.
Smarter CPlanes automatically align to eligible selections. It’s now easier to place and edit geometry in the right orientation, without having to cycle through multiple views.
Clipping and Sectioning
Rhino 8 introduces a number of clipping and sectioning enhancements to help support various drafting and fabrication workflows.
The Section Styles is a property of objects and layers. It includes hatch, fill, and boundary settings. Clipping Planes use this property to create section views and drawings of your model.
Clipping allows you to slice through your design, turning off the display of parts of the model. Now, with Selective Clipping, you can choose a subset of objects and layers to clip. You can even set a custom depth to isolate a specific part. With complex models, this focuses communication where it matters most.
Dynamically output vector geometry that updates with model changes.
Use section views that clip parts of your model to help illustrate and communicate the interior details. Rhino supports workflows to generate fast-clipped section views that you can reference in 3D viewports and Layouts.
Clipping planes can be used to extract sections through your model to use in prototyping and fabrication processes such as laser cutting. You can also extract slices of a big model to fabricate using CNC routers or 3D printers.

Rhino.Inside.Revit
Rhino.Inside.Revit brings the power of Rhino and Grasshopper to the Autodesk Revit® environment and manipulate Revit native geometry from simple geometric elements such as axes and family parameters.
Rhino.Inside is a new technology that allows embedding Rhino into other 64-bit Windows applications. Rhino.Inside.Revit is based on this technology and provides a platform for an unprecedented level of integration between Rhino and Revit.
Technically speaking, it is an add-on for Revit that loads Rhino and its plugins (e.g. Grasshopper) into Revit’s memory, just like any other Revit add-ons. Grasshopper brings a collection of new components for interacting with Revit, as well as providing access to the two software APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) using its script components.
Practically speaking, Rhino.Inside.Revit provides a set of tools for bridging the gap between Rhino’s free-form modeling and the world of BIM, opening Grasshopper’s rich ecosystem to the Revit environment, enabling completely new design workflows and possibilities.
